An Oscar Night at the Culp's - Continuing a Tradition

Clint's parents, a.k.a. Grammy and Pops, have spent the last few years watching all the movies that have an Oscar nomination.  Then, on the night of the awards, they watch all the red carpet coverage, the Oscar ceremony, and the after show with Joan Rivers.  This year, we were excited that Sam was able to join in the Oscar fun!  Thanks, Grammy and Pops for this great tux that was perfect for the occasion.

The next occasion will be to watch White Christmas!  "Sisters, Sisters...!!!" (if you listen closely you can hear the Culp clan singing this song :) )

BTW... here is what this outfit looked like on Sam in the hospital.  We can't believe how much he has grown!

Milestones

Saturday was a big day!  Sam gave us his first real smiles, and even a little giggle!  He also started following an object with his eyes if we move it from side to side.  It is amazing how much he grows and changes each day.

Sam loves to stand!  He has some strong little legs.

The dogs have gotten very comfortable around Sam now.  Pancho acts as his protector and Buoy loves to walk by and lick him :)  The dogs are always around making sure Sam is safe and sound.
Good Buoy!

A Special Visit

Sam got to meet his Uncle Wes (Clint's brother) and Aunt Megan last weekend!

MetLife Baby Shower

Sam went to his first party today at Clint's office!  Clint has a co-worker whose wife had a baby two days before Sam, so the office thew the babies a shower!  Sam decided to wake up and cry through most of the shower, but definitely loved the comfort from all his new friends.  He also enjoyed meeting his new playmate, Parker.

The MetLife office also sent a really cute email to all the regional offices announcing Sam's arrival:

Sam's First Bath

Sam got his first bath in his baby spa!  It started off a little iffy, but he ended up LOVING it!

That was great!

1 Month Check-Up

1 month picture
Another great report card today from the pediatrician!

Weight: 9 lbs 4 oz   25-50%
Height: 21.3 in   50%
Head: 14.8 in   50%
Development: A+

A new accomplishment this week is that Sam has begun sleeping in his own room.  Of course, we are sleeping in the guest room right across the hall with the baby monitor :)  He has also been sleeping one, sometimes two, 4 to 5 hour stretches at night between feedings.  We are trying to establish a bedtime routine of eating, being rocked for a bit, and then going to bed.  I found some fun bedtime music by "Rockabye Baby! Elvis."  They are all Elvis songs but played like a lullaby.

We have definitely entered a new phase in our lives.  This should last us about a month:

Here are some more pictures from the past couple weeks...

My Dad got to feed me a bottle for the first time!

My Grammy came to visit me!  She rocked me to sleep every night and stayed up with me until 3 AM, sometimes 4 AM! Mommy got to sleep  :)  It was pretty awesome!
These pictures are for my Gramps :)  I hope to be a baseball player when I grow up.

I love laying on my Dad's chest!

I am starting to smile and laugh, even though I don't know that's what I am doing yet :)

I can lift my head!

Singin' and Dancin'

Sam and I did some singing and dancing to my iPod this morning which put him to sleep. I am so glad I didn't have a video of that!

I put him in his swing and about ten minutes later I could hear him singing and dancing on his own :)

The first video is from today and the second video is when he was 2 weeks old.  It's amazing how much he is growing and changing!

Pictures!

One of my wonderful student's parents came and did some professional photos of Sam.  Sam was screaming crying before they got to the house, so I had just set myself up for pictures of my crying baby.  However, once we got started Sam was in the best mood!  I think he loved the camera and all the attention.  Here are some of the pics:
